Pharmacy Services
For your convenience, we offer both an in-house pharmacy and an online service so we can meet all your pet’s needs.
We provide medications, flea and tick control products, and heartworm preventives—all at competitive prices. We’ll also pass along any discounts or rebates from drug manufacturers.
When you order from us, you’ll know that the products you’re purchasing have been stored properly and are approved for use in Canada. And if you have any questions, you can ask your veterinarian.
Prescription Policies and Information
Prescription Reorder Policy for Shuswap Vet Clinic Clients:
Please provide us with 24 hours to refill your pet’s prescription. If your pet needs a medication that needs to be specially ordered, it may take as long as 1 week to receive your refill. Please be sure to confirm the type of medication and the dosage you have been giving to your pet.
As per our provincial licensing body, in order to refill a medication for a pet, we must have a valid Veterinarian-Client-Patient relationship. This means we need to have examined your pet within the last year. Refills may also be dependent on monitoring bloodwork, so we may need to book an appointment for that bloodwork to be done before we can fill a prescription; if your pet is running short of medication, we can provide a short-term prescription to cover until the exam or bloodwork are complete.
Prescription Requests from Non-clients:
We are legally required to have a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship before we are allowed to dispense medications for pets. There are some exceptions where we can dispense medications to pets of non-clients in an emergency situation (providing we have a prescription from their regular vet), but generally we will not be able to fill long-term prescriptions for pets that are not regular visitors to our clinic.
If you are a visitor to the area and need a prescription filled, please check with your regular veterinarian to see if they can send the prescription to a nearby human pharmacy, or if they can mail the medications to you directly.
If those options are not possible, we can book you an appointment at our clinic in order to establish a relationship that allows us to dispense medications as needed.
